I have just read your NDP leader candidate's comment that , she is " not afraid to rip up a contract with the Hebron partners on a campaign pledge " ! I am a resident of Calgary and have been out of Nfld for forty years. I have and continue to sit on a number of small and larger oil, gas and small cap companies ! To hear this kind of a comment sends shivers down my spine. I recall the days of your former Premier Peckford saying that Nfld. and Labrador would not negotiate with the big oil and gas Corporations ! Guess what....Halifax became the Province that capitalized on those comments and still , to this day, is benefiting from that situation ! Madame Michaels....you do not threaten large Corporations with that kind of language ! In doing so , you create a Berlin wall that takes a long time to dismantle. Your former Premier D. Williams was a master of negotiation but he was in a position of power and those of us that dealt with him respected his negotiating skills. I have some interest in your Nfld politics but I can tell you this, Mr. Alywards position with respect to oil revenues is spot on ! That is, creating the Legacy Fund ( similiar to the Alberta Heritage Fund )....it works and works well ! I wish all the candidates well in the election but you need to back away from your quote, as this does not bode well when the Province is on a positive cash flow for the forseeable future. Remember , resources can change with time...look at your cod fishery !!!!

Aylward needs to get real. He's not going to get many seats if he stays out of touch with reality. Voters know what's going on and when you make statements that voters know are not true then they're likely to listen to anything else you have to say.

During Williams' term in office the Liberals never missed an opportunity to condemn him, his policies and his performance. The only reason they are now prepared to admit he did a "decent job" is in hopes of disparaging Dunderdale by comparison. No doubt Williams has stronger leadership qualities (and more annoying traits) than his successor has shown to date, but there is little to distinguish them when it comes to policy. While I agree with most of the projects and tough stands adopted by Williams, I am wholly unconvinced at this point that the Muskrat Falls project is either necessary or viable. I suspect that in the passage of time, both Williams and Dunderdale have come to understand that this initiative, as originally configured and negotiated with Emera, is seriously flawed. Only stubborness - a trait that both leaders share - prevents them from acknowledging that Muskrat needs a second, expert, fully independent review. If Alyward hopes to make any inroads against Dunderdale, it will have to be on the basis that urban parts of the province - especially St. John's - are fairing much better than rural areas. Muskrat Falls must be shown for what it is - an expensive, risky, publicly funded project intended to guarantee unlimited power for all the new homes and businesses springing up on the north-east avalon. There has always been an urban/rural divide in Newfoundland politics - sometimes real, sometimes imagined - but offshore oil and the resulting migration of people from the bays to St. John's is casting an even bigger shadow over the outports. Dunderdale cannot be happy that Mayor O'Keefe is adding to the sense of urban entitlement by demanding that the province pass over an even larger chunk of money to feed the maw that is St. John's. I want and expect that Dunderdale will form the next government, but I think it would be healthy nevertheless to see a much stronger opposition than presently exists. Good oppositions make good governments.

Information Junkie....it does not appear that the Liberals had any trouble attracting a large crowd to their rally in the Baie Verta area. This campaign is just getting underway and it seems the Tories are lacking any momentum but the anonymous hacks like you keep trying to trivialize anybody else and their support. As for Jordan, why would anybody, least of all a political opponent, look at Ms Dunderdale as a credible leader. In case you haven't noticed, she can't respond to any issue with anything more than a pat answer, she has failed miserably in standing up for this province against Harper, and has no real concept of fiscal prudence. Her pre-election budget was by far the most crass effort of any leader we have ever seen in attempting to shore up support by buying votes. She also has no real understanding of the implications of developing Muskrat Falls and its negative impact on this province. Unfortunately, this campaign is taking on a rural versus urban tone but those of us who live outside the overpass can't help but note that we are the "have nots". It is not just Ottawa that treats people differently depending on where they live. Pre-election promises will not make up for years of neglect.

  I will never accept that Dunderdale is competent enough to run this province. I cannot get all of her gaffes as Minister of Natural Resources. She suspended two wildlife officers because she could read legislation and the infamous Abitibi expropriation that got Abitibi off the hook and the tax payer paying for the clean-up. She cannot read legislation...why should she be the lead law maker for the province?

Besides her more diplomatic approach Kathy Dunderdale hasn't strayed away from the directection that Danny Williams was taking this province in. It would be interesting to know exactly what Aylward really thinks of Dunderdale's leadership, deep down he's probably more comfortable with having Dunderdale and her team in charge then himself.

The Liberal's camapign website has not posed their Leader's tour itinerary since last Wednesday. The other parties continue to post their Leader's tour itinerary.. If they expect the public to attend their rallies, the Liberals need to share the information where Mr. Aylward is going to be. BTW, according to another (radio) media outlet, Kevin Aylward is "somewhere in Central Newfoundland" today. Whoever is running their Leader's Tour is not doing a very good job when local media can only say "he is somewhere in Central Newfoundland.
