Someone has come forward to claim the $21 million prize from Saturday’s Lotto 649 draw.
The Atlantic Lottery Corporation has indicated the ticket holder is from the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland, but will not release more specific details until the winner is verified.
A representative for ALC also said it can sometimes take days for a winning ticket to be confirmed and the official winner to be announced.
Once it’s claimed the $21 million prize will be the largest given by ALC so far this year.
The largest prize ever in Newfoundland and Labrador was $25 million, which was awarded to a group of people from Happy Valley - Goose Bay in 2010.
