Liberal Leader Kevin Aylward will be eating lunch today with the St. John's City Council.

But the mealtime conversation may be a little awkward, as Aylward explains his party's stance on funding arrangements between the province and the capital city.

Last week, Liberal candidate Danny Dumaresque said the city shouldn't be asking for more money; that cash would be better spent in rural parts of the province.

Following the private lunch, Aylward and Mayor Dennis O'Keefe are expected to speak to the media.

This will likely be Aylward's last time in St. John's before the Oct. 11 provincial election.

With less than a week to election day, Aylward is planning on hitting the road campaigning across Newfoundland before winding up in his home district of St. Georges-Stephenville East.

All the whiners in one room, that should be good for the digestion process. I bet they will be drinking gripe water with that meal.
