A candidates’ debate Wednesday evening at the Clarenville Events Centre was cut short after an audience member became ill.

The candidates for the district of Trinity North were about 45 minutes into the debate when someone noticed a member of the audience needed medical attention.

The individual was attended to at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

The debate was organized by the local chamber of commerce.

Brian Smith, vice-president of the chamber, along with moderator Lisa Browne, met with the candidates PC incumbent Ross Wiseman, Liberal Brad Cabana and New Democratic Vanessa Wiseman, who unanimously agreed to bring the debate to a close.

Smith said with the election just six days away, the event would not be rescheduled.

The poor member of the audience must have had a bad case of stomach sickness having to listen to the verbal diarrhea that was being dished out by those three, especially Cabana. Makes me sick just thinking about having to listen to them. In all due respect to the audience member, I do hope that he or she is ok and make a full recovery.
