Sealand Enterprises Limited in Englee has been fined $6,000 for violating the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations at its boatbuilding facility between July 2008 and January 2009.
A news release notes the company failed to provide sufficient ventilation in its facility in the Northern Peninsula town, the wearing of appropriate respiratory equipment, and the installation of effective washing facilities.
The company was also charged with violating two stop-work orders concerning working without ventilation and the use of an overhead crane without appropriate inspection.
In exchange for guilty pleas, two charges against the company were withdrawn.
The company was fined $2,000 on each of three charges for a total fine of $6,000.
The charges were the result of an investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety Branch of the Department of Government Services.
