Injuries considered non-life threatening to all victims

Seven people have been sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries following three separate traffic accidents in the St. John's area this evening within the space of an hour.

A woman and child were sent to hospital after a three-vehicle accident in which one of the vehicles burst into flames at the intersection of Mundy Pond Road and Columbus Drive. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly after arriving on the scene and they removed the woman and child from the car.

About thirty minutes later, a second collision, involving two vehicles, occurred on Empire Avenue near the Taxation Centre, sending a woman and two children to hospital.

Approximately thirty minutes after that incident, a vehicle was reported to have rolled over at least four times on Ruby Line sending two of its occupants to hospital.

None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

A fire department official says the injuries could have been more serious in the Ruby Line accident if the four occupants had not been wearing seatbelts.

Roads were mostly clear and all three accidents remain under investigation.
