Countless thousands of people lined the streets Sunday afternoon for the annual Downtown St. John's Christmas Parade.

The various participants of the parade marched through the city core under clear skies and the throngs of people who came out to see the show waved, shouted and rejoiced as the official start of the Christmas season made its way through the St. John's.

Late getting started....Way too long....Too slow...Not enough music....Worst parade I ever saw including the pathetic looking Santa...Way too many dancers... Best part of the parade was Snoopy.... He was so natural and confident...Absolutely adorable... Last year for us to attend....

Nice job overall but could the IceCaps players at least wave if they are forced to be there??

Last parade for us as well. It was so slow.. everyone was freezing. It's the same parade every year.. nothing really new and exciting. They also should consider getting another santa claus and better float. Sorry.. I wish I had positive things to say.

I would think that as an area grows economically that the quality of events such as the Santa Claus Parade would grow as well. In poorer times I have seen so much better. This was a terrible parade. There were a couple of quality floats, the rest lacked imagination and input. There were far too many dance/cheerleader groups (there should probably be a draw for who can participate) and the pace of the parade was painfully and pathetically slow. Surely, there must be businesses and corporations doing well enough from the economic boom to want to give a little back to the residents of the area particularly the children.

Great parade, children loved it, but did anyone else find it slow? My feet were frozen blocks of ice. Parades usually move along slowly, but this one seemed to stall most of the time!

The parade was very slow. Just about every dance group danced to two or three songs right in front of us and the Keystone Kops seemed to hang around forever. My three year old son wouldn't hear tell of leaving until Santa came along about two hours after the first police car passed by. Too long.

Last downtown parade for us, absolutley brutal. Parade started at 1pm and usually is over by 2:30 pm. This year we had to leave at 3:15 because I had to work at 4pm and the parade was only about 1/4 over. Too cold and too long!
