Corner Brook Firefighters have set a strike date of Jan. 30, in the ongoing saga of their contract negotiation breakdown with the city.

At a press conference Monday morning, flanked by the membership, union president Peter Daniels told media firefighters are giving a week's notice to allow plenty of time to return to the negotiating table.

They have been without a contract for more than a year. Wages and essential service designation are the two main issues are the bargaining table.
