Clarenville RCMP are warning drivers in its area that road conditions are very hazardous.
Police say the area is being subjected to snow and blowing snow and whiteout conditions have also been reported.
A press release issued Saturday afternoon warns motorists to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Anyone that does venture out onto the roads is asked to keep their headlights on at all times and to use extra caution.
Environment Canada also has several weather warnings in effect for other parts of Newfoundland as well.
All wind warnings have ended.
Winter storm warnings are now in place for: Bonavista Peninsula, Terra Nova, Gander and Vicinity, Bonavista North, Bay of Exploits, Green Bay - White Bay, and Grand Falls - Windsor and vicinity.
Heavy snow and strong winds are expected to taper off Saturday evening.
