THIS IS WHAT MARYSTOWN WORKERS VOTED TO REJECT( DO YOU AGREE WITH FURTHER EXEMPTIONS FROM MINIMIUM PROCESSING REGULATIONS AS PROPOSED BY OCI? THIS WAS FOLLOW BY A SIMPLE YES OR NO TO BE CHECK OFF.WORKERS WERE TOLD BY CLYDE JACKMAN TO VOTE IN FOR OCI OR THE PLANT WOULD CLOSED,MARYSTOWN VOTED TO PROTECT ONE OF OUR NATURAL RESOURES (FISHERY) FROM FURTHER EXEMPTIONS. FOR TAKING THIS POSITION THEY LOST THEIR JOBS ,THEY WERE LOOK DOWN ON BY SOME PEOPLES,OCI AND EVEN OUR GOVERNMENTS.CLYDE FIGURE THE 7 MILLIONS LBS WAS OKAY FOR MARYSTOWN BUT DARIN WANT MORE FOR FORTUNE BUT BOTH WANT TO STILL SHIP OUT THE REMAINERS OF OUR FISH OUTSIDE NFLD.MARTIN SAY HE WANT TO CREATE AND ATTRACTS YOUNGER WORKERS TO HIS BUSINESS BUT HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE WHEN IF YOU WORK IN THE FORTUNE PLANT $11.20 PER HRS.,40HRS PER WEEK FOR 50 WEEKS WOULD EARN THE SUM OF $22,400.00 PLUS 4% VAC PAY.DEDUCTIONS HAS TO BE MADE FROM THIS GROSS AMOUNTS THERE IS NOT MUCH LEFT OVER TO RAISE A FAMILY,BUILD A HOUSE OR PROVIDE THE SAME THINGS IN LIFE TO YOUR KIDS AS YOUR NEIGHBOURS.OCI OFFER FORTUNE WORKERS A RAISE OF 90 CENTS OVERA 5 YEARS PERIOD,SO IN 2017 OCI WILL PAY THE WORKERS THE SUM OF$12.10 IN YEAR 2017 IF THEY ARE STILL IN FORTUNE.ON THE OTHER HAND THEY ONLY WANT TO CREATE JOBS IN CHINA AT LESS THAN A DOLLAR A DAY UNLESS OUR GOVERNMENT SAY NO TO OCI.

While the provincial government is willing to consider multi-year exemptions, it believes that under the current circumstances it is possible that quotas would be lost to the province entirely and the resource could be landed elsewhere without any value to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. Maybe someone can explain how this can happen. Anyone?

      It is just math

It is simple. Increased profits for OCI = increased taxes paid. If the increase in taxes is higher than any value the people can create, then all is good

Lower pay for employees means less money in the community, less money spent in the local stores, less profit for the stores, less pay for the store employee and so on and so on. The increase in taxes do not stay in the community. Very simple math.

People, you shouldn't throw all the blame at King; remember it was former Premier Williams who dismantled and sold a very successful and proiftable FPI.

DELOITTE SAID IN THEIR REPORT THATA LOSS OF $800,000.00 WOULD BE INCUR TO PROCESS 7 MILLIONS LBS. OF YELLOWTAIL FLOUNDER IN FORTUNE PLANT. A LOSS OF $2,300,000.00 WOULD BE THE LOSS IN MARYSTOWN FOR THE SAME AMOUNT OF 7 MILLIONS LBS OF YELLOWTAIL FLOUNDER.MR KING STATED THAT GOVERNMENT ANALYSIS SHOW A MODERATE PROFIT IN FORTUNE OVERALL GROUNDFISH OPERATION. IS MR. KING SAYING THAT DELOITTE REPORT IS WRONG FOR FORTUNE BUT RIGHT FOR MARYSTOWN? IF THAT IS THE CASE WHY DID GOVERNMENT PAID DELOITTE TO DO A REPORT ON MARYSTOWN AND AND FORTUNE AND IGNORE THE FORTUNE REPORT.GOVERNMENT DID THEIR ANALYSIS ON FORTUNE SO IT IS ONLY FAIR FOR GOVERNMENT TO DO A ANALYSIS ON MARYSTOWN OR RELEASE THE DETAILS OF THE FPI/OCI SALES AGREAMENT TO ALL NEWFOUNDLANDERS.
