Check with Mount Pearl. They have (or used to have?) a policy of sealing cracks in the pavement as soon as they appear with a specialized sealant. Compare potholes/km of street lane City to City. Better or worse - probably have to stop doing it if they amalgamate?

Maybe if they took more than "3 minutes" the patches would last longer than a day and that 8000 could be cut in half . I was watching a crew downtown in the past weeks, the asphalt was being thown in the holes and in some cases the tamper was barely ran across it once. Next heavy hit or swipe of the plow and that patch is gone. It's all a make work project though. If any type of repair lasted more than 6 months in this city, the citizens would be astonished not to mention we might be able to reduce some needless spending.

Im sure breathing in those fumes is not healthy, why dont they use the warm tar pavement type like they use on the mainland that doesnt smoke and not the hot tar pavement ...a close friend who works for transportation in Ontario, who is from here, says there is no smoke and that its much better all around for road wear too.

in the video I didnt notice the men wearing some sort of mask to cover their mouths. Can you imagine doing that all day for a long period of time, inhaling all that smoke from the hot ashphalt. The city should have the workers wear a mask to cover their mouths so down the road they wont suffer from lung cancer.

Kudos to the Telegram for putting this one together. It's important people understand just what the City and its employees are doing out there, and that there's usually much more to it than we tend to assume. Now FIX THE FRIGGIN' GAPER AT THE KILBRIDE IRVING, B'YS!
