Lobster fishermen represented by the FFAW have voted in favour of incorporating their own company to sell their catches — cutting out traditional buyers all together.
The news comes after buyers, represented by the Seafood Producers of Newfoundland and Labrador (SPONL), announced last week they were refusing to buy lobsters. SPONL claims that its members cannot afford to pay the price set down by the Standing Fish Price-Setting Panel.
