The final two tenders have been awarded to complete Phase 1 of the Trans Labrador Highway, Minister of Transportation Tom Hedderson announced today in the House of Assembly.

The tenders will see the completion of the Labrador West to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, at a cost of $65.8 million.

Humber Valley Paving has been awarded both contracts and will begin paving immediately, Hedderson said.

One contract called for paving to be completed between Wabush Junction and Churchill Falls, with the other contract being done between Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Churchill Falls.

Both contracts will be done at the same time, with the work expected to be completed by 2014.
