Police officer facing knife assault charge

An RCMP officer will be in court later this month in Clarenville to face charges of assault, including one count of assault with a weapon.

Topics :
Gander , Carbonear , Clarenville

Cpl. Steve Blackmore, who lives in Gander but works out of the Carmanville RCMP detachment, is facing nine charges of assault, one of which includes an allegation the assault was committed with a knife.

Court documents indicate the charges stem from an alleged series of incidents that occurred over the course of several years, and involved multiple female victims. The assaults are alleged to have taken place in a number of communities, including Gander, George’s Brook, Wesleyville and Carbonear.

The police officer is not on active duty at this time, and police are not offering any further comments on the matter.

Cpl. Blackmore is scheduled to appear in court June 21 in Clarenville.

how the hell can all of you say shit like that when you obviously don't know what actually happened? they're obviously going to make it seem worst because he's a cop and because this is the news. Small town is obviously going to try to make a big story out of it.

How can you defend this YELLOW when you have no idea what happened....there 's obviously must be some truth to it or he would not be suspended after the investigation!!

This makes the rest of the Police Offciers as disgusted as the public gets. We need to remember that they took the complaints, did the investigation and arrested him..............so they are doing their own laundry. Too bad that other professions do not do the same, ie: CEO's, Bankers, Doctors and Lawyers. I do find it interesting that his name/identification is/has been released before trial when other criminals charged are protected and it would take and Act to get their ID - including child molesters who may be living next door. One bad apple does not make the rest bad. Remember when we are running from a dangereous scene they are running towards it!

Aren't applicants supposed to do psychological testing prior to being accepted?
