$40,000 lobster cooker stolen in Lewisporte

Lewisporte RCMP are investigating the theft of a large lobster and crab cooker valued at $40,000 from the Lobster Pool store.

The 14’ by 4’ by 4’ stainless steel cooker along with approximately 20 aluminum baskets for the cooker were stolen from the owner’s property sometime between April and June, according to police.

The theft occurred on Comfort Cove Road near Turtle Creek.

The RCMP are asking anyone with information to call the Lewisporte detachment at 709-535-8637 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

    Aluminum? I'd say she's scrap now and was sold by the pound. Stolen between April and June? Sounds like it was really missed!

    Regardless of the value, some dirt bag stole someone else's property. Either the property owner or people who pay insurance premiums will be the one's supporting someone else's thieving habits. Emphasis on the wrong the wrong thing.

    I doubt that cooker was worth $40,000. The price of lobster cookers has come down a lot, and the government needs to step in and set a more realistic price for lobster cookers. If not, we'll never know what the fair price of a lobster cooker is and we'll have to stop buying and selling lobster cookers.
