RCMP have determined that a bomb threat at Dunne Memorial Academy in St. Mary’s was a hoax.

Students were evacuated earlier today after a note warning of a bomb was found in the school.

The school was searched by the RCMP Police Service Dog, teachers and members of the RCMP.

The building was cleared and students were returned to class.

Police will be continuing the investigation in an effort to determine the author of the letter.

Just someone looking for a day off school or a bit of attention. I'm sure no one in St. Mary's is able to build a bomb anyways.

The note was pretty clear, direct, and placed where this individual wanted it to be found. Any threat no matter how minor it may seem should be taken serious when children are involved. I don't think it was a very funny "joke" if that was this persons intention.

Sometimes "notes" can be taken too seriously. When I was in high school (not to long ago) a teacher found a hand written quote of a MacBeth that a student was trying to memorize for credit launching a school wide search for a suicidal student.

When children can go online and find so easily how to create anything from apple sauce to music instruments... it can be scary. I believe the Teachers and Staff of Dunne should be commend for their quick action. Yes it may have been a hoax but if your child was there would you want them to take a chance.
