The city council gets its revenue from taxes. Home owners and businesses pay taxes to the city which then uses the revenue to provide services. The arts community is not crap........but the city should NOT subsidize anything with funds that should be used support basic services. Once basic services are fully paid then, if there is a surplus, it can be used for other things, like support for non-profit groups. It should NEVER be used however to support private business. Business should make a profit or close down.

I agree with Holden 100%. The municipal council's first priority should be basic infrastructure (roads, water, sewer) , with things like garbage collection, snow clearing and animal control close behind. The other things ,like parks & rec.) should follow after that and NO subsidy should be provided to private business or things like hockey rinks which only a tiny percentage of residents use.

This is one of the first proirities of a Municipal Government. Not Civic Centres and other crap that this council has swamped us in debt over.

Just where do you think council get's their revenue from? I hope you are including every dime they send to the arts community and republic of doyle when you refer to "other crap".
