A 25-year-old man has been charged with breaking into The Head Room salon on LeMarchant Road in St. John’s early this morning.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says patrol officers and the K-9 unit responded to the scene after an alarm sounded about 4:20 a.m. and, after searching the immediate area, located the suspect.

The man was charged with break and entry and breaches of court orders, and was expected to make a court appearance today.

The business sustained some damage during the breakin.

Anyone who has any information in relation to the break and entry is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can also provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.

Mr. Mom.....your name and response says it all. I question if some sleeze bag broke into your home, assaulted you, or worse your small child, if you would feel so forgiving. What about the victims of these crimes....no remorse for them? You never as much mentioned them in your left wing response.

I don't think anybody is saying that the crime isn't terrible or the that the person shouldn't be punished appropriately, however you're definition of "appropriate punishment" seems to be getting stuck in a window and dying this horrible death. A bit disproportionate to the crime don't you think?

@Mallrat- Your name says it all !!!! Although I don't agree with breaking into businesses and stealing or any other crime for that matter, I do understand that this day and age young people are lured into this drug game and are very good people in a very bad place. A place where they struggle everyday to get out of but is very hard to do. I have learned from talking to people that the young man in question that was killed by trying to get in that business on Blackmarsh Road had a 4 year old son that adored his dad very much. So much that everytime his dad was around, the little boy stuck to him like glue and as I type this, my 4 year old has his arms wrapped around my neck watching his favorite cartoon. His son must be devastated at this moment, his father gone forever just because he struggled with demons. This father, I also learned, played with his son and couldn't see past him. His son was his world !!!!! So before you go off on this idiotic rant again posting your negative thoughts, try and think about the big picture. Try and put yourself in someone elses shoes and see how affected everyone around him are feeling right now. Someday, and I hope not, you may be in the same situation whereas YOU or someone close to you will be in that situation.

I don't think anyone deserves to die for theft as some of the people who've commented here seem to believe. Some of these comments are quite shocking actually.

Totally agree Mallrat.....too bad the score is not 2 - 0. Windows are doing a better job of handing out appropriate punishment than our justice system. Go windows!

Loves when the windows start fighting back! One Thief killed by a window a couple of weeks back and now this lad suffered Severe cuts to both hands and fingers! Looks good on them, and no one to charge for their stupidity! Not like they can say the business owner beat them raw, instead the window Fought Back! NICE and About time! The city is sick of the Thieves!
