A 22-year-old man charged with assault with a weapon claimed in court today that it was an accident.

Evan Michael Lambe appeared in provincial court this morning where he told Judge Greg Brown, "I'm charged with stabbing my girlfriend with scissors, but it was an accident, though."

Lambe is charged with assault with a weapon (scissors), assault causing bodily harm, breaching probation and two counts of assaulting a police officer.

He's due back this afternoon for a bail hearing.

The charges are from an incident on Cabot Street Sunday.

RNC officers responded to a report that a female had been stabbed by a male who was known to her.

The victim was treated at hospital and released. Injuries are not apparently life threatening.

Isn't this the same yahoo, who got arrested and charged last year with breaking and entering a home in St. John's. Told the homeowner who caught him that he was calling his girlfriend. What a piece of work this guy is.

Should be a relatively easy decision for the Jude to see the BS behind this story.

Your Honour, it was an accident. She accidentially walked into the a few times before she knew what she was doing. Give me a break. If it was an accident wouldn't the victim have said that by now?

"accident"...and breach of probation and 2 counts of assault on police officer. let me guess - he has no licence, registration, insurance, 20K in fines and grew up in abusive home. Another drain on the taxpayers :(
