RCMP seize alcohol from vessel in Makkovik

RCMP officers have seized alcohol, cash and a firearm from a vessel they believed to be transporting drugs and alcohol to the coast of Labrador.

No drugs were seized during the search.

RCMP officers from Hopedale, Makkovik and Happy Valley-Goose Bay were assisted by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans as well as the Coast Guard as they monitored the 45-foot vessel as it travelled from Happy Valley-Goose Bay to Makkovik, where RCMP boarded the boat to execute a search warrant.

Three men were arrested and later released without charges.

The investigation is ongoing, state the RCMP.
