3:00 A/M on George Street......not surprised. Liquid courage is the drink of choice that hour of the morning.

Townie, it says "near the Franklyn Hotel on Water Street", not George St, right there in the article- the Franklyn Hotel is quite a walk from George St. Also, this was on a late Wed evening/ early Thurs morning. My point being, this was not a "Friday Night George St. dust up"- this was a guy who got jumped, ganged up on and, from the sounds of it, pummelled by a bunch of punks. Huge difference. However, were I a tourist, I'm not sure I would feel that different about either scenario given the apparent randomness and lack of motive. Neither reflects well on the city.
