FMC technologies is building a 36,000 square foot facility in Mount Pearl to serve as a center for subsea services, the company announced today.
The facility includes 6,000 square feet of office space and a 30,000 square feet high bay and workshop including a clean room and test pit.
The company, which supplies underwater services for offshore oil production, sees Newfoundland and Labrador as a region with significant growth opportunities, said FMC base manager Gerry Mayo in a press release.
The new facility will provide FMC with the infrastructure to expand its business and range of services, he said.
Construction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2013.
FMC, a Houston, Texas based company, operates in 16 countries.
The company established a Newfoundland and Labrador presence in 1998 to work on the Terra Nova project.
FMC’s Subsea Services business performs installation, service support and life of field operations for subsea products and provides
strategic solutions to ensure optimal equipment performance and reliability.
