A nine-year-old girl riding her bicycle escaped injury this afternoon when she collided with a dump truck on Main Road in Butlerville.
Trinity-Conception District RCMP responded to the incident about 3:08 p.m.
The child was riding her bicycle when it veered into oncoming traffic. The driver of the dump truck applied his brakes upon seeing the child coming in his direction.
The child struck the truck and fell off her bike.
There appears to be no injuries as a result of the accident, however, the child was taken to Carbonear General Hospital to be assessed.
The child was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

I myself ride on the side walk, but I give full right away to walkers. If I see someone walking I stop and let them pass and if I need to I go off the sideway out ot traffic to let them pass. I WILL NOT be riding anywhere near trafic. The drivers in St. John's really don't know what they are doing and I don't feel safe sharing the road with them. I'm sure other places are just as bad. I'd rather NOT follow the "rules" and get back home to my kids then follow them and have doughhead driver hit me and then my kids have to grow up without a daddy.
