Man crashes car, runs from police

A 37-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after crashing his vehicle into a wooded area and fleeing the vehicle.

The North West River man was driving in Happy Valley-Goose Bay when RCMP officers saw him speeding. After a short chase the man crashed his vehicle into the deep sand and tree line off Kelland Drive. The occupants of the vehicle fled into the forest on foot.

The driver was found and arrested a short time later.

He is charged with flight from police, impaired driving, and driving without a licence. The man also has $5,300 in outstanding fines.

The man was held for a bail hearing in Happy Valley-Goose Bay court.

    Just get this over with.....jack up the price of beer and liquor by 1000%, and put the revenues into police 'toll' kiosks with breathalyzer units on every road.
