I have worked around bridges with contractors for years. There has been more work done the past 10 years than anytime. They cannot be done all at once, for one thing it is expensive and for another we don't have the contractor's in the province to do very many in a year. Some bridges need repairs but don't need to be replaced. One example is the gut bridge near Stephenville Crossing. The rails and the top of the bridge were in disrepair and needed to be replaced but the bridge underneath is in good shape. I am sure every road in the province would need/want to be replaced if we looked at specific inspections. Like everything else, in due time! My question is why fear monger the people in the province? Bridges are being inspected and repaired yearly.

Regarding any bridge not located on the Avalon...who really cares? Almost no votes "out there" (as Queen Kathy herself called visiting the hinterland of Corner Brook last Friday), and fewer every day.
