MONTREAL — Montreal police have confirmed that the human remains found Sunday in a park belong to Jun Lin.

Lin’s torso was found in a suitcase in late May, while other body parts were mailed to offices of political parties and to two schools.

Police have said the only missing body part was Lin’s head.

A police spokeswoman said detectives were notified Wednesday that the remains found in Angrignon Park belong to Lin.

“Major-crimes squad investigators just got confirmation,” Const. Anie Lemieux said.

She said Lin’s family was informed of the match.

Luka Rocco Magnotta has been charged with first-degree murder in Lin’s death.

Magnotta has pleaded not guilty and will appear in court next year.
