Pilot OK after plane crash on Northern Peninsula

A man walked away from a plane crash Saturday on the Northern Peninsula.

The 62-year-old pilot’s Cessna floatplane crashed on take off from Middle Pond, east of Hawkes Bay.

The man, from Port Saunders, was not hurt. He was able to walk to a point where he had cellphone reception and called police.

RCMP officers picked him up and he was taken to hospital for assessment.

Transport Canada has been notified of the crash. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
