The development of the Conception Bay South bypass extension continues this summer with a tender call for the construction of an overpass at Butler’s Pit Road, the provincial government announced today.

Work will include the construction of a 42.7-metre single lane panel bridge on concrete abutments over the C.B.S. bypass at Butler’s Pit Road. Traffic flow on the road will not be impacted during construction. Butler’s Pit Road will be realigned to meet the overpass as part of this project.

“The C.B.S. bypass is an integral piece of the transportation network in the region,” said Tom Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Works. “The Avalon Peninsula sees the highest daily traffic volumes in the province, and once complete, the C.B.S. bypass extension will help enhance the transportation infrastructure in the region to the benefit of all who travel these roads.”

The C.B.S. bypass extension is cost-shared by the provincial and federal governments through the Canadian Strategic Infrastructure Fund.
