Mount Cashel Orphanage

In a powerful three-part series starting in Friday's Telegram and continuing in the Weekend edition and on Monday, reporter Barb Sweet tracks down some of the boys of Mount Cashel Orphanage and talks to them about their lives after the sexual abuse scandal that ripped their world apart. Some of the stories are tragic, some at least partly triumphant, but all are poignant. Sweet also talks to some of the police officers who tried their damnedest to bring the shocking story to light.

I feel this story can't be told enough. The Victims have lived through a Frightening time in their childhood, acutally their childhoods where taken away from them by trusted Priests and "Christian" brothers.People need to learn by hearing this story again and again, untill children are Heard not HURT! May this story be rememberd until things Change.

Unbelievable! I can't believe you are bringing up this event again!! The victims have suffered enough already and by printing this in the paper you are going to make them relive the events of their childhood. Shame on you. Enough said.

These poor people have suffered most of their lives as a result of the systematic abuse and cover up of their crimes and actions. Honest, caring police officers trying to protect the children to have the door slammed in their face, to prevent the right thing from being done. Sad story all the way around.

How about talking to some of the genuine people who lived at Mount Cashel and became better people for it. I know some peopel who are living some very happy lives because of their positive experiences. While some of the staff were sickos, most were careing loving people who dedicated their lives to service. There would have been hundreds or thousands of children left on the streets in poverty and in difficult home situations if it was not for Mount Cashel. We all applaud the wonderful foster homes and adpotive parents we have in province because we all see the good service they provide. Well, Mount Cashel was just that era's foster home.
