The MV Beaumont Hamel was taken out of service on the Bell Island run this morning at approximately 7:20 a.m. after a problem was discovered with the bow thruster, according to the Department of Transportation and Works.

The mechanical problem is unrelated to recent repairs on the vessel.

The department states that a contractor has arrived onsite and replaced a bad circuit board in one of the bow thruster control systems and the vessel will return to its regular schedule at 11:20 a.m. today.

Are you serious? Out of service again? This just isn't right. I don't live on Bell Island but I sure feel for the people there. It's about time our government smartened up and did the job right! GET A NEW FERRY FOR THE BELL ISLAND CROSSING,!!!! How many times does it take for government to realize a "bandage" job just doesn't cut it when "amputation" is needed.
