Looks like the St. John’s IceCaps will be sticking around for an extra year.
Danny Williams, team president and chief executive officer, announced this morning that he has signed a deal to keep the IceCaps in Newfoundland and Labrador for a fourth season.
The original deal between Williams and True North Sports and Entertainment, owner of the IceCaps parent club the Winnipeg Jets, was for three seasons of hockey.
“I am so pleased to announce to fans and our corporate partners that our St. John’s IceCaps will be around for at least a fourth season,” wrote Williams in a news release.
“The level of support that we have received has been nothing short of extraordinary, and our entire organization is more motivated than ever before to ensure we deliver an outstanding fan experience as we move forward.”
Season 2 for the IceCaps begins Oct. 12 with the first home game at Mile One Centre set for Oct. 19.
