Work crews will be removing asbestos from a section of the Confederation Building parking lot starting today and continuing through to Aug. 1, the provincial government announced today.

The asbestos was found under a section of the Confederation Building parking lot during recent excavation work.

Barriers will be set-up around the site, and workers will be wearing specialized protective equipment while removing the contaminated material.

The government is requesting people to respect the fencing barrier and signage on-site.

The release states the work poses no risk to the public.
