A 48-year-old man from Harbour Grace was arrested for impaired driving today.

Trinity-Conception RCMP received a tip concerning a possible impaired driver on Veteran's Memorial Highway near Tilton. An officer located the vehicle and driver a short while later. Police allege the driver's breathalyzer test produced a result that was three-times the legal limit for blood-alcohol content.

The driver has been charged with impaired driving of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood. He was also issued seven-day and 90-day driving suspensions. He is scheduled to appear in Harbour Grace provincial court at a later date.

Why bother to bring him to court? He'll get a slap on the wrist and a spoken warning. Then he can go about his business and do the exact same thing later that same day. IDIOTS like that deserve to be locked up and not given a second thought.
