Motorcycle driver seriously injured in accident

The male driver of a motorcycle is in hospital with serious injuries following an accident Saturday in Labrador City in which the motorcycle left the road, ending up in the ditch with the driver underneath it.

The RNC said the accident occurred about 12:20 p.m. Saturday.

Ambulance personnel from the Captain William Jackman Memorial Hospital, and Labrador City Fire Department, responded to the scene along with the RNC.

The area surrounding the collision was cordoned off and traffic was diverted while specialized investigators with the RNC Traffic Services Section in St. John’s were flown in.

As of Sunday, at approximately 8 p.m., the roadway was reopened to the normal flow of traffic.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence relating to this incident and are seeking the assistance of the public.
