Poor ticket sales results in cancelled concert

Summer Blast 2012, scheduled to be held at Mile One Aug. 24, has been cancelled.

Artists like T-Pain, Far East Movement, Anjulie and DRU had planned to take the stage at the event, which was cancelled due to poor ticket sales, Mile One Centre has announced.

Anyone who has purchased a ticket will be able to get a refund in the next 30 days. Those who bought tickets with cash or debit can get their refund at the Mile One Centre box office, while those who bought them with a credit card will automatically receive their money back within the next few days.

Questions can be directed to the box office by calling (709) 576-7657.

“T-Pain, Far East Movement, Anjulie and DRU regret any inconvenience to fans that comes as a result of the cancellation,” a statement from Mile One read Tuesday.

Just because the only radio stations here play top 40, doesn't mean those are the only artist that need to be brought here.

To Funny: Newfoundlanders don't want to travel to other provinces to enjoy a good concert. To David Wilson: It's really sad that Mile One is so poorly managed. I say to Mile One, Get with the program!"

Brad and others who blame Mile One, please note that Mile One is the venue, NOT the concert promoter. They do help promote shows at their venue (via their website etc) but advertising and promotion is the responsibility of the concert PROMOTER, which I think in this case was Sure Fire Entertainment. It was actually promoted pretty heavily on social media, though evidently not enough. Mile One is not to blame for poor ticket sales.

J - Smarten up bye. There is no reason to complain about not knowing about concert coming to the Mile One Centre. It was on the Mile One website and you can subscribe to receive concert annouhcements. It's called being a Mile One Insider. Get with the program!! I suppose you never heared Keith Urban was coming either.

I bet a lot of people can relate to me on this situation. I myself tried to order 4 tickets online (more convenient for me im not from St. John's area) and i could not get into the sight to buy "Summer Blast tickets" so I called mile one box office. she said she would see the supervisor tried again 2 days later.. nothing changed.. emailed mile one...tried again 2 days later .. still nothing!!.. after a while you got a tendancy to get fed up.. so I didnt bother at all. My gain, theyre loss!

David, Mile One can't expect their customers to faithfully go to your website every week or month to see if there may or may not be a concert coming up. If you're going to go through the expense of putting on a show and you want it to be a success, you have to promote it properly. I live in Portugal Cove-St. Philips, and I can honestly say I have not even heard about this concert until reading this article today. Furthermore, often when you subscribe to email updates, your email address doesn't often stay with just that organization you signed up with, often resulting in spam mail in addition to updates. It's a persons own prerogative whether or not they want to sign up, the fact of the matter is Mile One did not do a good enough job of promoting this concert, plain and simple. And as Ashley pointed out, their customer service lacks something as well.

Smarten up yourself - maybe not every would-be concert-goer WANTS Mile One to introduce them to the Wonderful World of Spam.
