The provincial government is putting out a tender call for paving work on New World Island, as well as upgrades to the Farewell ferry terminal.

Culvert installation, ditching, and asphalt repair will be included in a tender call for road work taking place on sections of Route 346 and Route 340-46 on New World Island. Enhancements that include lane expansion and paving will also take place at the Fogo Island-Change Islands ferry terminal parking area in Farewell, states a government news release.

Transportation and Works Minister Tom Hedderson said the work is a significant improvement to marine and ground infrastructure.

“This investment is a good example of how we pursue both highway and wharf rehabilitation, which benefits our coastal and rural communities,” he said.

Culvert installation, ditching and asphalt repair will also take place at locations on Route 320 between Greenspond intersection and Valleyfield intersection.

This is a tender call only. The improvements he speaks of might take place sometime next year or near the next election.
