Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers in Corner Brook are looking for a man wanted in connection with the assault of a girl on a walking trail.
According to a news release issued Tuesday, the alleged incident was reported at 2:35 p.m. It was said to have taken place in a wooded area along the Corner Brook Stream Trail System adjacent to the Cobb Lane and Marcelle Avenue area.
A 16-year-old girl was walking alone from Glynmill Inn Pond to Margaret Bowater Park when she was allegedly grabbed by a man who attempted to drag her into the woods.
Her calls for help were heard by others walking on the trail, causing the male suspect to leave the girl and run into the woods. Police said she suffered minor injuries.
The RNC conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the man. He is described as approximately 30 years old, six feet to six feet one inches tall, 180-to-200 pounds with very short dark hair.
