The police in Lewisporte are investigating after they found an 86-year-old man’s body in the water in Boyd’s Cove.

The body was found Thursday afternoon, after the RCMP received a report that a boat was found near Dunnage Island in Boyd’s Cove. The body was near the boat.

Police said the man was wearing a floatation device.

Investigators have not figured out what the cause of death is yet, but a post mortem with the province’s Chief Medical Examiner will be done.

The name of the man is being withheld by police until his next of kin are notified.
