RNC to officially launch boat

The RNC will officially launch a rigid-hulled inflatable boat Saturday that was purchased in 2009.

Officers began training for the use of the boat last year with help from the Canadian Coast Guard.

The boat has been used for police operations in the past, states a RNC news release.

The boat will now be used to assist the coast guard when needed, for search and rescue duties, as well as other marine legislation enforcement.

The RNC currently has marine capabilities in Corner Brook, Labrador City and Churchill Falls.
