Two groups of hikers who were lost on the East Coast Trail have been safely recovered, according to the RNC.
At about 8:40 p.m. Monday police were told the two groups were lost near the East Coast Trail between Goulds and Bay Bulls.
RNC and the Rovers Search and Rescue began a search at 10:30 p.m., and found the first group of five hikers and made sure they were OK.
After spending the night in the woods, the second group of five hikers was found at 8 a.m. today.
The group was airlifted to a Rovers mobile command post on Shoal Bay Road.
The RNC is attributing the successful recovery to the skills and experience of the hikers, who police report had supplies with them for the unplanned adventure.
