After serving time for armed robbery, and while staying at a halfway house on statutory release, Gregory Pike went absent without authorization July 30, leading the RCMP to issue a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.

Pike, who had been sentenced to 2.5 years for robbing a customer in a Carbonear Shopper’s Drug Mart in 2010, was thought to have returned to the Trinity Conception area, report police. They were right.

At about 2 p.m. Tuesday, RCMP members from the Trinity Conception detachment saw Pike near the McDonald’s in Bay Roberts.

The fleet-footed felon ran from police, escaping into the nearby woods where he was followed by the RCMP, who report they caught the man without incident.

Pike was returned to the St. John’s Community Corrections Centre.

This is a corrected version.

im going to start off by saying before you judge somebody, try to put yourself in their shoes, you have no idea what its like to have a family member go through this. People make mistakes, sometimes it takes longer to learn from them but that doesnt mean they cant change. Gregory pike is a good young man he just went down a rough path in his life. So before you judge and post negative comments about him, just stop and think about what you would do or how you would feel if this was one of your family members going through this.

The problem isn't his tattoo's it's our flawed justice system. Although, I'd never ink my face I refuse to judge someone else for doing so.

I saw him in St. John's over the weekend. I specifically remember the 709 tattoo...it's not something you see everyday.

This guy would be hard to find in a crowd.....he needs to go away for a long time considering what he contributes to society. Another low lifer of the street. Give him twenty five with no chance of parole. Our justice system needs to start sending a message. Do the crime, do the (long) time!

The only advice I could give Mr. Pike is to locate a good dermatologist and have those hideous tattoos removed.

I would rather spend time with Mr pike, than with the lame judgemental people who just sit and wait for someone to judge. I hope it makes you feel better putting down someone who may have not had much of a chance in life.

Really "Benefit of a Doubt"? I'm all for expressing yourself, but this is just an attempt to look tough. If he wasn't given much of a chance in life, he certainly didn't increase his chances by doodling crappy looking tatoos over this face.

What an apparently good natured member of society. And how kind of him to make himself easily identifiable so as to be not too difficult to apprehend. My compliments to his tatoo artist and, perhaps, while in the slammer, he may wish to ponder the services of a compotent plastic surgeon to make his next game of hide and seek a little more challenging.

wayne harvey you and a few more people here leaving your judemental comments, worry about your own lives and not gregorys, the only person to judge anyone is god,so as long as your life is on the staight and narrow,is all that matters,i hope people ..... has to judge you guys someday or some one in your family for making mistakes ,its his tattoos not yours its his mistakes not yours, its him that is hurting and his family not yours, its us that is trying to turn his life around not ye,so the time it took you guys to put gregory down didnt take long did it? ,,,,so if all of you guys would take the time ye took to rite your bullshit, and put postive things here, maybe just maybe, young men like greg would get the help they needs.we need more positive feed back and more ways to help people like gregory that is hooked on narcotics and other drugs, the low life scum that got this on the streets should be in jail not people like my son,if it wasnt out there on the streets for teenagers to get into, there wouldnt be to many people in jail or worse,it dont take long to sit here and write down your narrow minded judgemental thoughts, but it takes us his family a hell of alot longer to get my son and alot more like him well again.its people like you guys, that cant wait to see thing things like this on the news so you can jump rite on it and so very quick to get here and write your garbage, slow down a little if you got any brains at all and ask your self how my son got to this point in his life,do you think this is the life he wanted, nooooooo it not,and to answer the other guy here its really none of your buisness but yes he is in the process of getting his tattoos removed maybe ill send you a picture, and to the guy who said you wouldnt want him knocking on your door, maybe if more good hearted people like gregory knoked on your door and told you his story,if its any of your buisness, youwould think twice about what you write here, all gregory talks about is when he gets his life on track is talking to young people about drugs and what it does to your life,so if you saw him at your childs school with all these tatoos on his face standing on the stage in the gym ,trying to educate them about drug use and share his story,so it wont happen to your child and they wouldnt have to go through what he did and his family, would you judge him then, would you make fun then,no probably not,so when you see people on the news like my son,STOP AND THINK
