Nain man charged with assault

An early-morning scuffle in Nain has resulted in a 20-year-old man being charged with assault with a weapon — a knife — and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Nain RCMP officers were called to a residence at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday where two men were reported to be fighting.

The men fled when police arrived and were located a few hours later.

Both men knew each other, and no one was injured in the incident.

The man was released from custody with numerous conditions and will appear in Nain provincial court Oct. 17.
