Two people from Mount Pearl have won a top prize from an Atlantic Lottery Corporation's Set for Life scratch ticket.

Leonard and Joan French picked up their $675,000 winnings at Atlantic Lottery’s office in St. John’s on Friday.

“It’s sinking in,” Leonard told the corporation.

“It’s hard to believe. It’s amazing really.”

French purchased the ticket during his lunch break at a local Sobeys store and scratched it later in the day.

According to a press release by the corporation the couple "spent Thursday running around and making financial plans. While there are no plans to retire in the immediate future, the couple says a new computer and a trip to Hawaii are definitely on the agenda."

Mark, they may not retire on it, and may not be set for life by your standards but if it was me, 675 k would make my life one hell of a lot easier, regardless of age.

Sour Grapes there mark.....If they put it in the bank ( not even considering much higher returns) they will make about 65000 a year...You can't live in that?.......you must be very very well off if you think almost 70,000 a year is not much money

Please tell me what bank you are dealing with where you are getting that kind of return! I need to move my money over there! At any of the mainstream banks, you would be lucky to get 2%, which is considerably less than the 10% you are assuming!
