FERRYLAND, N.L. — Police are investigating the cause of a chemical spill in Newfoundland and Labrador on Friday.
RCMP in Ferryland say a 37-year-old man from Conception Bay South was delivering a shipment to a local grocery store when he noticed a strange smell.
They say the man’s clothes and skin were contaminated with sodium hypochlorite, a concentrated form of bleach, when he went to investigate the smell.
Police say he wasn’t hurt and managed to decontaminate himself.
The chemical was en route to a water treatment facility in the town.
