A 54-year-old St. John's man was charged with assault as a result of a complaint from a centre-city establishment Sunday night.
The accused was arrested by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary around 9 p.m. and released to appear in court at a later date.
Also, a 26-year-old Southern Harbour man was arrested early Sunday morning by the RNC and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and theft.
The arrest arose from a complaint from the public around 6 a.m. of a possible impaired driver at a gas station near the Trans-Canada Highway.
The accused was held in custody to appear in court.
Meanwhile, in Corner Brook, as a result of an ongoing investigation, a 16-year-old male has been charged with common assault and breach of probation.
The RNC released him into the custody of his father to appear in court at a later date.
