Corner Brook RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance after two municipal buildings in the Bay of Islands were broken into and a quantity of cash and cheques stolen over the weekend.

The first incident was reported Sunday in the community of McIvers when an employee found the McIvers municipal office had been broken into and a safe, containing cheques and several thousand dollars in cash, removed.

The second incident was reported on Monday by an employee of the community of Irishtown who found that the municipal office there had been entered and a safe had been forced open, resulting in the theft of several hundred dollars in cash.

RCMP are advising the public to contact the Corner Brook detachment at 637-4433 if they have any information relating to these break and entries or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
