The Department of Transportation and Works is advising that the MV Beaumont Hamel will return to service for the community of Bell Island as of this evening.

The vessel underwent repairs to a seal in one of its thrusters to rectify an oil pressure issue.

The province says the regular schedule for ferry service to and from Bell Island will resume as soon as the MV Beaumont Hamel arrives at the terminal in Portugal Cove - St. Phillips.

For schedule information, Bell Island ferry users can call 709-895-6931.

It's time to get the boats back to the old schedule, having 2hr breaks during the day and no late trips at night...that outragous for the people travelling to and from the island. These young men, most of them... should be able to work 10 or 12 hr days. They work one week and are off the next week. I'm sure their bodies can handle that. They don't have to walk long distances, they don't do any heavy lifting, they don't dig trenches. Put a crew of women on the boat, they would work miracles over those lazy arse men. Anyway, it must have been a man who came up with these rules of having a 2 hr. break during the working class hours. I wonder???

back for how long ????? I guess it will be the Flanders turn next ???? age old fleet and an age old minded crew running those vessels.... Time to clean up your act Minister Hedderson and put protocol in place before a tragic accident happens on those vessels. Newer vessels and newer laws for working crew ????

This is similar to the movie 'GroundHog Day'!! Seems like it repeats itself over, and over and over - again and again, etc. cfa
