Man arrested for string of armed robberies in Happy Valley-Goose Bay

A 19-year-old Goose Bay man will appear in provincial court today to face charges in connection with five armed robberies in the Happy Valley-Goose Bay area over the past 11 days.

Ian Williams will have a bail hearing this afternoon at court in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

He faces 15 charges including: five counts of armed robbery, five counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and five counts of wearing a disguise to commit a criminal act.

The RCMP had put together an extensive investigative team in connection with the string of robberies. The team consisted of the forensic identification section, general investigation section, RCMP police dog services from St. John's, a forensic facial imaging artist brought in from Fredericton, N.B., along with numerous RCMP officers from the Happy Valley/Goose Bay office.
