Three female pedestrians were hurt in two hit and runs Sunday night on Bell Island.
Around 11:15 pm, RCMP on Bell Island responded to the incident near 10 Commandments Rd. While dealing with the matter, a second call came in reporting another hit and run a short distance away.
The first incident resulted in injuries that sent a female victim to the local hospital, but the injuries were not life threatening.
The victims of the second accident, two female youths, were transported to the hospital with more serious injuries and one was sent to St. John's for further treatment. Her condition at the time of this report was unknown.
The suspect vehicle was later located and with the help of police dog services, one man was tracked into the woods and arrested. Another male was arrested a short time later. Both were questioned and released with possible charges pending.
The vehicle was impounded as it had extensive damage and to allow for further investigation. The Bell Island RCMP is asking that anyone with information to contact the Bell Island detachment or Crime Stoppers.
Of particular interest to police is the identification of a possible second vehicle that may have been involved or the driver may have been an eye witness.
