The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in Corner Brook is investigating an overnight break and entry into a shed on residential property in the town’s west side.

Patrol services officers responded to a complaint around 11 a.m. today of a shed being broken into on Shamrock Crescent. The property owner reported that a quantity of beer and a 410 double-barrel shotgun was missing.

The RNC says it’s concerned about the public safety issues that a theft of firearms presents and is encouraging the persons responsible to pass the firearm over to the RNC.

Firearm owners are also being reminded by police that all firearms must be locked with a secure locking device and stored in a locked secure container at all times.

The RNC is continuing to investigate this incident and is requesting the assistance of the general public in identifying the person or persons responsible. Anyone with information are asked to contact the RNC at 637-4100 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). People can also provide information anonymously on the N.L. Crime Stoppers Website www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
